Lynne has been sailing most of her adult life (she says she will not grow up). Lynne is a Schooner Girl, having been a sail trainer in the summers aboard the Schooner Adventures when it was strictly a Youth Sail Training Program.  She has been honored to be an attending surveyor to some of our northwest historical sailboats, tall ships (historical and replicas, and the Endeavor – replica of Capt. Cook’s vessel, when she was in Seattle on her round the world.

Racing has been a hobby, racing everything from small to large vessels; Sabots, Catalinas, J/29 and 30’s, and a William Garden Schooner. She started coming to the Northwest in the late 70’s and finally made the move permanent in the early 1990’s.  She apprenticed here as a surveyor, and attended Chapman School on Florida.  She is an Accredited Marine Surveyor, a member of SAMS, (International) Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors and a Certified Marine Investigator with IAMI – International Association of Marine Investigators.  View her curriculum vita here.

Lynne enjoys cruising too, having spent many summers in the San Juan Islands (sails them blindfolded, the East coast and the Virgin Islands.  There is never enough time to cruise.

Lynne teaches Marine Survey and works as a mentor to up and coming surveyors. She has three daughters and four grandchildren, and the famous kitty – “Princess-of-Westlake”, featured in a recent profile in Norwesting.

Lynne inspects vessels of all materials, size, and ages.  Fiberglass sailboats are the boats of choice here in the Northwest.  She is looked to as well, as a specialist in wooden vessels, and sought after for her advise and services.

Lynne lives in Seattle, on Lake Union with her cat Princess on a 1939 Monk – Grandy, bridge deck cruiser (in restoration – a work in progress!, she says).  Sleeping aboard, she can’t claim to be a live-aboard, she says, as she spending most of her time in her office and bilges of many colors.  Her office is nearby, on Westlake North.  Most all her work is within the Seattle Area, although she travels willingly to survey yachts and do insurance claims throughout the Pacific Northwest, Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, Canada and as far away as Atlanta, GA where she was retained to inspect an older wood vessel in restoration.

She is the owner of LodeStar Marine – Surveying and Consulting, Seattle, WA
